My mother is a sculptor and I have always been fascinated by her work. She is my biggest supporter and the most important thing to me, so I love finding ways to incorporate her within the art that I make whether visually or subconciously. This painting is based on a sculpture she made before I was born that I've always been heavily drawn to. Her sculpture represents strength within the bounds of crying a koi pond instead of a river. A river keeps on flowing while a koi pond stands still on its own and is finite.
